This is Part 2  of a Hormone Special. In Part 1 I looked into TRT with Expert Dave Crossland

Today I chat to Amanda Thebe, a British PT and author who lives in Canada. She has written a book to help deal with the Menopause, what to expect and how to use exercise to help.  The book is called "MENOPOCALYPSE" and is well worth reading (link below), especially if you're going through that challenging time and need a no-nonsense guide. Amongst other things, we chat aboout;

  • How the process starts, and how the 3 phases of menopause progress from peri, to full menopause and post menopause
  • Identifying the common initial symptoms of peri menopause and its affects mentally and physically
  • The usual timeframe from the first effects of peri menopause leading to full symptoms of menopause
  • The relationship between levels of oestrogen and progesterone in relation to the onset of the menopause
  • The current medical opinion on HRT, whether it actually helps, or just defers the symptoms of the menopause. Also, how long is treatment with HRT is recommended
  • My last episode was on testosterone and TRT, obviously as a man it’s very important, but we talk about how testosterone could be important to women as well.
  • How exercise can help physically and mentally when going thorough menopause 
  • The role of nutrition and possibly some supplementation in relation to symptoms, what has bee found to be effective.
  • The benefits of strength training for women, and why it is even more important during and after the menopause
  • Thoughts on Cold Water Immersion - very popular in menopausal women
  • We discuss her book and further reading.
